Facebook Page Admin Comment Crisis

Facebook page admin bug - Facebook on it

Your rating: None Average: 5 (2 votes)

Earlier today, South Africa Facebook Page Administrators discovered a Facebook Page bug, admins couldn't comment on their own Facebook page updates as admins.

There's a Facebook page bug - Facebook page administrators cannot comment currently as administrators on their pages. Instead when they attempt to do so, Facebook pulls in the administrator's personal profile details and renders this info in the comment form. Rather problematic when your agency, or when you are attempting to manage a brand's Facebook page.

I've been in touch with Facebook in the UK and they have alerted me to the fact that they are aware of the issue and that once the US operations team gets into the office that they will update me with more information on the matter.

Until then, Facebook admins it's best that you sit tight, alert your communities to the problem and await the Facebook Ops team's resolution or Facebook's official statement on the matter.

I will update you the minute I know more from them, or the minute I read about it on Mashable or TechCrunch the channels most likely to receive the news of the bug and resolution first.

Update: Facebook has fixed the Admin posting as Individual Facebook Comments issue

Thanks to Ronnie Holland for updating me, and for getting the Facebook ops team onto this issue

this is very annoying. my like page requires participation from everyone to be able to comment on each other's posts on the like page wall unless you a friend of the person or they are commenting if the administrator posted something. Soes facebook expect 500 miillion plus people to go and change all their privacy settings.
hope they sort it out soon.

Facebook had better resolve this bug immediately, your clients are paying you thousands of rands a day to use a FREE tool. Paying Facebook nothing in gets you the support your deserve.

That's not the point, my point is completely to highlight this issue not to gripe about the service response.

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for these updates. I see that they have reverted to the previous set up but why do the change like that in the first place? Makes you wonder what they are thinking sometimes :)
