Johannesburg gets in on the action

There aren't many sporting activities out there that encourage swapping partners or where a bullseye is celebrated with as much gusto as with the after hours athlete. Maybe you know a few of these proud athletes, or even fall within the category yourself, and realise the amount of willpower and strength that is needed. And now cue the entrance of PUMA Social.

When we heard that PUMA was heading north to celebrate the infamous after hours athlete we knew that we had to be a part of this (truth be told hearing that Haezer would be performing kinda sealed the deal for us - and we had to go). Side note: this marks the first time that PUMA has included Johannesburg in its fold of awesomeness. Usually most / all of their activities stay in Cape Town; so kudos and thank you PUMA. Lets hope that this isn't the last time you grace us with your presence.

The event was held in Johannesburg CBD, with many familiar faces making an appearance. One downfall was that the venue seemed empty. Yes, it was over two stories, but the fact that the line-up was amazing and that this was a FREE event made us think that more would have showed up. This is a sad trend that I have noticed recently in Johannesburg. It seems that our party scene is dieing (or my circle at least). Yes, I am guilty of not going out in favour of a night in, but this would be me admitting defeat and digressing too far from the actual post.

Abandoned building in Johannesburg CBD - check
Great music - check
Food and copious amount of drinks - check
Table tennis and bowling alley - check
Awesome vibe and people - check
Loads of metro on the roads - check

This was definitely an event that ticked all the right boxes. PUMA knows how to throw a pretty decent party and the crowd showed their love by partying well into the night / early morning, doing justice to the title of after hours athlete.
